Are you thinking about a sandblasted sign for your business? Well, here are some things to think about and consider before you make your decision. Of course, these are some of the best looking signs to be found, but are they right for your business?
Did you see another sandblasted sign at a different business, and what was your initial reaction? Positive or negative? Usually, the signs show that the business is serious about their branding and signage. This is not to say that these signs are cost prohibitive, rather it's an expensive that will be appreciated for years to come.
Sandblasted signs are made from one of three materials, depending on the clients' needs and purpose/location of the sign. Redwood is the nicest, then there's cedar with it's unique qualities and finally HDU (high density urethane) which holds up best and for the longest period of time. All three are somewhat 'soft' materials and wouldn't do well on the side of a delivery truck, but certainly as a monument sign, or a building sign - it's perfect.
Redwood and cedar are natural woods and will show their own 'personality' as no two woods are exactly alike. So the knots and other harder areas within the sign don't allow the blasted sand to dig as deep into the grain, giving it their personality. In addition to this characteristic trait of the natural woods, it will deteriorate over time and possibly chip and shrink a little, peeling some of the paint off - then having the need to be 'touched' up or replaced after some time. The High Density Urethane stands up to the elements much better and accepts the blasting more consistently, and will last for years and years.
Places to install or hang sandblasted signs are usually up to the client, but we certainly will assist you with choosing an ideal location. They can be attached to an exterior wall of the business or a free standing monument sign. Hanging signs are still quite popular and gives a more welcoming environment to your business.
Church signage:
Every church needs to identify itself to its congregation and potential visitors. The street signs or those to mark specific buildings such as "chapel," "Sunday School," "pastor's office" and the like can be made beautifully and durably.
Home-sweet-home:
Residential abodes look well loved with a sandblasted "Smith's residence" hanging by their front door. "Established in..." is also a popular way to let everyone know how long you've lived there.
Recreational facilities:
Stables, art museums, parks and the like can be identified in this classy manner. Even gymnasiums and yacht clubs need to be labeled with signage. Why not make it a sandblasted model?
Professional offices:
Doctors, dentists, accountants and chiropractors all need to be identified so that their customers can locate them in a large building or from the street.
Historic districts:
Historical homes and districts need classic signage in order to set them off from the rest. These carved products are the perfect option to do just that. They add character.
These products come in a variety of textures and features. They may be smooth or grainy in appearance. They may be constructed in a variety of shapes and sizes. There is an option to have marquee letter for easy changes of message. Their thickness varies and can range from ¾ of an inch to 2 inches thick. Any color may be chosen for lettering and background.
